Susie (Clemens) Agar, wife of the late Alfred D. Freed, passed away at Souderton Mennonite Homes on March 3, 2010, a day after her 92nd birthday. Born March 2, 1918 in Lederach, she was a daughter of the late George A. and Susie (Tyson) Clemens and enjoyed growing up on the family farm. Susie and Alfred were married in 1938 and enjoyed 36 years of married life together before Alfred died in 1975.
She was employed as a clerk at the former Yocum & Godshalk store for many years, and was also employed by the former Schoenneman Clothing Company, both of Souderton.
Susie was a long-time member of Souderton Mennonite Church where she taught Bible School, held children's meetings, sang in the chorus and served as organist and pianist. She was active with the Fresh Air Foundation, was a nurse's aid at Peter Becker Community, loved to read, play games, garden and enjoyed sharing her gift for cooking and friendship by entertaining in her home.
Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy C. Kratz and her husband John D., Dawn F. Moyer and her husband K. Leon, and Adele C. Dengler and her husband David S., all of Souderton. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, J. Randall Kratz and his wife Melissa, Dr. Richard Kratz and his wife Suzanne, Rodney Kratz and his wife Carissa, Angela Benner and her husband Pastor Scott, Heather Dunda and her husband Gary, Jessica Gillespie and her husband Stephen, and Carrie Wenger and her husband Lonny; and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 5 siblings, Franklin, Earl, and Richard Clemens, Alma Allebach, and Katie Hagey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service at 3PM on Sunday, March 7, at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, where the family will receive friends from 1-2:45PM. Viewing will be private with burial at Souderton Mennonite Church Cemetery.
