Irene M. Detweiler, 84, of Souderton, died early Friday morning, May 10, 1996 at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill.
She was the widow of David D. Detweiler, who died in 1979.
Formerly of Telford, Mrs. Detweiler lived with her daughter in Franconia for 14 years, prior to moving to Souderton Mennonite Homes in 1993.
Born in Franconia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Ellen (Moyer) Moyer.
She was employed for 15 years as a presser and folder by the former Souderton Laundry. Following that, she was employed as a packager by the former Granite Knitting Mill in Soudertonfor several years.
Mrs. Detweiler enjoyed knitting and crocheting, donating much of her handiwork to the Needlework Guild of America.
She was a lifelong member of the Souderton Mennonite Church.
Mrs. Detweiler is survived by a daughter, Marjorie R.. Kooker and her husband, Richard H., of Franconia; a son, David K. Detweiler and his wife, Karen, of Coldwater, Mich.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Esther Detweiler of Towamencin.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Moyer.
Services will be Monday afternoon in the chapel of Souderton Mennonite Homes, Souderton.
