Obituary: Walton C. Ruth 81, of Telford, died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Rockhill Mennonite Community. He was the husband of Ruth (Bower) Ruth, his wife of 62 years. Born January 25, 1930 in Harleysville, he was a son of the late Paul L. and Naomi (Clemens) Ruth. Mr. Ruth was a lifelong member of Spring Mount Mennonite Church where he served as song leader and was a trustee. He was employed as an excavator with R & M Paving and, later, Mast Excavating for many years, retiring in 1995. Previously, he worked as a dairy farmer on the family farm. His hobbies included flower gardening, oil painting, and singing. He also enjoyed being a member of the Sunday School Meditations Male Quartet for over thirty years. Surviving, in addition to his wife, were three children, Marlin B. Ruth and wife Sharon of Harleysville, Elaine R. Grote and husband Stephen of Souderton, and Ronald B. Ruth and wife Rhonda of Telford; two sisters, Cleta R. Reinford and husband Daniel of Lancaster, and Eleanor C. Ruth of Lansdale; two brothers, Vernon C. Ruth and wife Janet of Spring City, and Leonard C. Ruth and wife Esther of Harleysville; six grandchildren, Adrian Grote, Austin Grote, Matthew Ruth and wife Kara Miller, Ben Ruth and wife Laura, Mattea Ruth, and Melea Ruth; and one great-granddaughter, Abby Nice. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Salford Mennonite Church, Harleysville. The Graveside Service was held at Salford Mennonite Cemetery. |
