Mahlon H. Cassel, 89, of Souderton, died early Thursday morning, January 2, 1992 in Grand View Hospital, where he had been a patient since Christmas Eve.
He was the husband of the late Elsie May (Detweiler) Cassel and the late Dorothy (Ruch) Cassel.
Born in Broad Axe, he was the son of the late Jesse and Anna (Heckler) Cassel.
Mr. Cassel had lived most of his lifetime in Line Lexington and since 1984 had resided at the Souderton Mennonite Homes.
He had worked 38 years as a commission merchant, selling Freihofer Bakery Products in Bucks County. After retirement, he worked part-time as a delivery man for the former Larry's Auto Parts, Line Lexington.
Mr. Cassel was a member of the Line Lexington Church since 1923.
Surviving were two daughters, Doris M., wife of Alton Parmer of Souderton, and Janet L., wife of Frederick Gane of Pennsburg; two sons, Mahlon E. of Souderton and Gerald D. of Mount Pleasant, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Marilyn, wife of George Williams of Lansdale; two stepsons, Russell Ruch of Hatfield and Kenneth Ruch,of Green Lane; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
Services were held at Line Lexington Mennonite Church.
