Obituaries: Gahman-. Monroe T., 77, Pipersville, Pa., died Jan. 29. Spouse: Ruth W. Gahman. Parents: Abram S. and Hannah T. Gahman. Children: Pat Bolton, James, Eva Yoder, Wilber, Duane: 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral: Feb. 2 at Deep Run Mennonite Church East, Perkasie, Pa. _________________________________ Ruth W. (Detweiler) Gahman, 83, of Perkasie, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at her residence. She was the loving wife of the late Monroe T. Gahman for 53 years. Ruth was born in Bedminster Twp. to the late Clayton and Alice (Wismer) Detweiler. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ruth enjoyed music, singing and quilting. She was a regular volunteer at the Mennonite Resource Center in Harleysville and Care & Share Thrift Shoppes in Souderton. Ruth also volunteered for the SOOP program in Arizona. She liked traveling, bus tours and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was a life member of Deep Run Mennonite Church East where she served as a former Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher and was part of the ladies sewing circle. She was survived by her two daughters, Patricia Bolton and husband, Ray of Kutztown and Eva Yoder and husband, Kermit of Perkasie; her three sons, James Gahman and wife, Darlene of Souderton, Wilbur Gahman and wife, Karen of Montrose, CO and R. Duane Gahman and wife, Jennifer of Green Lane; her three sisters, Ella Mae Landis of Souderton, Cora Longacre of Franconia, MariAn Nyce of Weatherford, OK; four brothers, Arthur Detweiler and wife, Irene of Danboro, Raymond Detweiler and wife, Grace of Blooming Glen, Elmer Detweiler and wife, Alice of Bedminster and Chester Detweiler and wife, Janet of Lederach; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Detweiler of Pipersville, Mary Emma Detweiler of Perkasie and Kathryn Detweiler of Perkasie; 12 grandchildren, Brandon, Kara, Tyler, Andrea, Travis, Megan, Kyle, Lindsay, Kelsey, Taylor, Autumn and Burgundy; and nine great-grandchildren, Alexis, Owen, Sydney, Evan, Cooper, McKenna, Delaney, Amelia and Nora. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Warren, Claude and Clayton Detweiler. Funeral services were held Monday, February 4, 2013 at Deep Run Mennonite Church East, Perkasie. Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery. |
