Obituary: Ida S. Kratz, 96, of Franconia Township, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008 in the skilled nursing unit of Souderton Mennonite Homes, Franconia Township. she was the widow of the late Elmer L. Kratz, who died in 2002. They had been married 73 years. Born in Salford, she was a daughter of the late Isaiah and Lizzie Ann (Shoemaker) Landis. She was employed as a nurse at Elm Terrace, Lansdale and as a nurse's aide at Dock Terrace, Towmencin Township for over 40 years, retiring at the age of 84. Mrs. Kratz was a member of Methacton Mennonite Church where she assisted with summer Bible School, and she was a former member of Salford Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School. She cared for many foster children. In her free time she enjoyed reflexology, quilting and singing. She is survived by a foster daughter, Beverly K. Reed, and her husband R.B. Reed Sr. of Bethlehem; four grandchildren: R.B. Reed Jr., Donna L. Zonetti, Debora A. Pierson and Diane L. Fleming; nine great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Isaac Landis, and four sisters: Edith Bergey, Lizzie A. Landis, Martha Derstine and Amanda Landis. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. in the Summit View Auditorium of the Souderton Mennonite Homes, Souderton with calling hours from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Franconia Mennonite Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Agape Fund of Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, Pa. 18964 or to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 399 Market St., Ste. 102, Philadelphia, Pa. 19106. Arrangments are by Sadler-Suess Funeral Home, Telford. |
