Obituary: Elizabeth S. (Bergey) Cassel‚ 81‚ of Souderton‚ went home to be with her Lord‚ Friday‚ Dec. 8‚ 2006‚ at Grand View Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Mahlon E. Cassel‚ with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in April. Born in Hatfield‚ she was a daughter of the late Horace‚ Sr. and Esther (Souder) Bergey. Elizabeth enjoyed her children and grandchildren‚ gardening‚ international travel and hosting foreign visitors. She was a member of Line Lexington Mennonite Church‚ where throughout her married life‚ she served faithfully in various ministries. In addition to her husband‚ she was survived by four daughters‚ Lucille Weaver and her husband‚ Jim‚ of Perkasie‚ Esther Mast and her husband‚ Darrel‚ of Lancaster‚ Beth Kolb and her husband‚ Paul‚ of Spring City and Marilyn Hanger and her husband‚ Pastor Kirk Hanger‚ of Alexandria‚ VA; one son‚ Timothy Cassel and his wife‚ Cheryl‚ of Souderton; two sisters‚ Grace Bergey and Esther Moyer‚ both of Souderton; a brother‚ Horace Bergey‚ Jr. of Hatfield; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son‚ James Cassel. Funeral services were held on Tuesday‚ Dec. 12, 2006 at Line Lexington Mennonite Church; burial was in the adjoining church cemetery. |
