Obituary: Harold M. Fly, 76, of Telford, died Wednesday, Aug. 27,1997 in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Landis) Fly, in 1985. Born in Souderton, he was a son of the late Joseph G. and Estella (Metzger) Fly. He graduated from the former Sellersville-Perkasie High School in 1939 and received training in the Ontario Mennonite Bible Institute. He served as deacon of the Finland Mennonite Church and was later ordained to the pastorate at Steel City Mennonite Church near Bethlehem. He and his wife served as steward and matron of the former Franconia Mission of Mercy, currently the Indian Creek Foundation, during the late 1950's. He also pastored the Towamencin Mennonite Church from 1965 to 1971 and from 1976 to 1988. He most recently completed an interim term of pastoral service with the Cedar Hill Mennonite Congregation of Elizabethtown. Pastor Fly served as an advisory member of the former Northern Light Missions, currently the Impact North Ministries Missions of Red Lake, Ontario. He served with the Montgomery County Opportunity Board and was an advisor to Women's Aglow Fellowship. He traveled throughout six continents encouraging Christian missionary endeavors. Currently, he was a member of the Towamencin Mennonite Church. Memorial services were held Sept. 7 in the Franconia Mennonite Meetinghouse, Franconia. Interment was in Towamencin Mennonite Cemetery, Kulpsville. |
