Obituary: Gerald K. Shingler, 81, of Emmaus, died April 9 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was married to Regina K. (Kemmerer) Shingler for 51 years in November. A graduate of Elkhart (Ind.) School of Musical Repair, he was a self-employed musician and repair technician for 55 years, owning and operating the former Shingler's Music House, Emmaus, for 10 years. He also was an orchestra pit performer for the former Lyric Theatre, Allentown, for 25 years, and a director of and performer with the Macungie Band. Born in Macungie, he was a son of the late Frank E. and Alice R. (Knauss) Shingler. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Emmaus. An Army staff sergeant in World War II, he played taps for Teddy Roosevelt Jr. in Normandy, France. Survivors: Wife; sons, Terry G. of McAllen, Texas, Glenn G. of Macungie; daughter, Gail R. Steiner of Sayre, Bradford County; five grandchildren. Services: memorial, 10:30 a.m. Friday, Horace W. Schantz Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Emmaus. Call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday.
