Obituary: Erma B. Halteman, 87, of Souderton, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 19, 2012, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Julie Halteman, with whom she was residing. She and her husband Aldus N. Halteman would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in August. Born in Telford, she was a daughter of the late Wilmer B. and Marietta (Bergey) Souder. A homemaker, she was a very active, longtime member of Franconia Mennonite Church where she served with the sewing circle, and as a Sunday school teacher. She volunteered for more than 20 years at the Rockhill Mennonite Community in Sellersville and also for a number of years at the Care and Share Shoppe. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, sewing, and making quilts. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Sandra Freed and her husband, Arlin, of Souderton; two sons, Ronald S. Halteman and his wife, Julie, of Telford and Barry S. Halteman and his wife, Glenda, of Accident, MD; a son-in-law, Floyd Kratz and his wife, Monique, of Telford; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Derstine of Souderton and Rhoda Landis and her husband, Linford, of Pennsburg; and a brother, Ray Souder and his wife, Jane, of Boyertown. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane Kratz; a granddaughter, Miranda Ann Halteman; and five siblings. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 23, at 12PM in the Franconia Mennonite Church, 613 Harleysville Pike, Franconia. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10AM to 12PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Ave., Sellersville, PA 18960.
