Collection of mostly color slides (transparencies), and some scans of prints, taken by the late Peter P. Macinskas, Jr. (1922-1969) of Vernfield, Montgomery County, PA, and a member of the Indian Creek Church of the Brethren, from the early 1940s through early 1960s. These include pictures of activities and scenes at Indian Creek Church of the Brethren (1948-1954), the village of Vernfield, the family of Jacob A. & Amanda Cassel Price, the family of Peter & Sara Price Macinskas, Church of the Brethren Annual Conference at Ocean Grove, NJ, Peter's US. Army service at Okinawa in the Pacific, 1944-45, and aerial photos around Vernfield.

Provenance

Peter "Pete" Macinskas was married to Sara C. Price of the Indian Creek Church of the Brethren, and became a member of that congregation. They lived along the Old Sumneytown Pike, just below Vernfield, Lower Salford Township. He began taking slides when he was a student at Souderton High School in the early 1940s, then served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa, 1945; came home and married Sara Price, and continued his hobby of photography and making home movies throughout his life.

The slides were later in the possession of his son, Dean Macinskas, who gave them to Leon Z. Moyer around 2015. Leon then donated them to MHC.
