Description A handstitched grain bag made out of handspun bleached plain weave linen. In the almost center section there is the name "H.G. CLEMMER" which has been stencilled and hand painted in black paint. There are two buttonholes on the left side flanking the seam with bleached linen twist cord ties inserted into the holes and tied. The top opening has a 1/4" wide foldover hem.
Provenance Owned by Henry G. Clemmer (1841-1928) of Hereford Township, Berks County, the son of Preacher Christian & Barbara Gehman Clemmer. He had a large and prosperous farm in the eastern corner of Hereford Township.
