Description A child's coat made out of a navy blue wool. The coat has a modified midday collar, with two panels in the front, trimmed with two application of white braided cord, and a large single wide square collar in the back. The coat has a high front center closure on three hook and eyes, stopping just before the empire waistline. The skirt is attached with cartridge pleating which fans out into a voluminous A-line shape. The sleeves are set into the arm syce with gathering at the shoulders and are billowy until they meet the wide cuff, with further gathering along the attachment, The cuff is trimmed with the same white silk braided application. The coat is lined in brown cotton flannel, and the sleeves are lined in plain brown cotton. The lapel and square collar are both lined in black cotton. The coat is also machine constructed with hand finished details.
Provenance Came out of the family of Allen C. (1867-1953) and Catherine "Katie" K. (Clemmer) Moyer (1867-1900). They were members of the Franconia Mennonite Church.
