Description |
Ribbon Quilt comprised of forty-four vertical strips. Each strip is made out of multiple panels of multicolored nylon grosgrain ribbons. The strips also vary in width and length, and have been pieced randomly and machine stitched with black thread. There is butted binding which has been reinforced with black handstitching. The back is comprised of a black rayon which has fade marks, resulting in an almost iridescent appearance. There is a machine quilted repeated hexagon design. |

Made by Katie S. (Longacre) Grant (1894-1987), when she was about seventy-six years old. She was the wife of Allen L. Grant (1889-1965). The quilt was made using leftover grosgrain ribbon from their millinery shop, Grant's Millinery Shop in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. |
