Robert C. Bucher (1911-2008) Spent most of his life in Lower Salford Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania where passion for his heritage and local history compelled him to collect and preserve artifacts that reflected the folk culture of his community.
Educated in township schools and then at Ursinus College where he earned a Bachelor of Science with a chemistry major. His carreer included positions with the DuPont organization and with Fleers, Inc., where he was a research chemist. A member of Indian Creek Church of the Brethren, his local history interest focused mainly on the Plain sects, but included all segments of his community.
He was a founder and member of these organization: Lower Salford Historians, Goshenhoppen Historians, Pennsylvania Log House Society, Historic Schaeffertown and Heckler Fest.
This collection includes diaries, advertising and records of Harleysville area businesses, deeds, estate settlements, and a large collection of photographs. There are also samplers, newspapers and fraktur-type family records that are catalogued separately in the Mennonite Heritage Center collection.
