Notenbüchlein (manuscript tunebook), dated March 7, 1822, with fine fraktur bookplate, made for Sarah Schattinger [Shaddinger], "Singing Scholar in the Plumstead School." |
Provenance |
Made for Sarah G. Shaddinger (Wismer) (1808-1896), daughter of Andrew & Barbara Gross Shaddinger of Plumstead Township, Bucks County, and members of the Deep Run Mennonite congregation. She later married Epernetus L. Wismer (1817-1907). They had one son, who had no children of his own. The tunebook was passed down in the family of Sarah's brother Jacob G. Shaddinger (1812-1898) to his great-granddaughter, the donor. |
