Description |
Eight-Point Star Quilt comprised of forty-one complete blocks set on point. Each block averages 7.50" x 7.50" and is made of a double pink printed cotton ground with an eight-point star made out of red cotton with a black and white print and a yellow cotton with a black and red print. Surrounding the complete blocks are sixteen half blocks and four quarter blocks. Separating each block is a 2.00" wide sashing made out of a green cotton with a black dot print and a quilt stitched curved line, and cornerstones made out the same printed yellow cotton. The surrounding border is 4.00" wide and made out of the same printed green cotton with curled quilt stitching and a 1/2" wide applied binding made of a different double pink printed cotton. The quilt is handstitched with brown thread and a SPI of 5-7. The back is comprised of a brown and white dotted ground cotton with a red striped print. |

Attributed to Annie M. (Landis) Bergey (1866-1945), wife of Horace F. Bergey (1865-1938). They lived in Hatfield Township, Montgomery County, and were members of the Franconia Mennonite Church. The quilt was passed down to her granddaughter, Anna S. Bergey (1920-2000). |
