Description |
Fine and beautiful fraktur bookplate dated February 7, 1814, attributed to Schoolmaster David Kulp, made for Jacob Kolb [Kulp], and inserted in an 1811 edition of the "Zions Harfe" (German-language Mennonite hymnbook). The bookplate and hymnbook are in good condition. Text on bookplate reads: "Dieses Geist Reiche Gesangbuch Gehoret Jacob Kolb, geschrieben den 7tn Februarius Anno 1814." Nice color. |

Made for Jacob C. Kulp (1799-1878) by his schoolmaster David Kulp of Deep Run. He never married, but the book was passed down in the Kulp-Moore family of the Blooming Glen Mennonite congregation; donated to MHEP by the family of Franklin K. & Alverda N. Moore. |
