Made for Sarah H. Kulp (High) (1810-1890), daughter of Abraham & Sarah Hunsicker Kulp of Bedminster Township, Bucks County. Her father was a minister in the Deep Run Mennonite congregation. In adulthood she married Jacob K. High (1804-1883) and they are buried in the Deep Run East Mennonite Cemetery. The donor's husband was their great-grandson. A very similar tunebook was made the day prior, February 25, 1818, by the same artist for Magdalena Gross. It is in the collection of the Spruance Library, Bucks County Historical Society, and is pictured on p. 328 of Bucks County Fraktur (Cory Amsler, ed.). |
