Description |
Blanket comprised of a 15 x 11 patch formation made of various swatches emulating blocks. Each swatch varies in width, length, color and material but consistently are made of wool menswear fabrics, such as tweeds, herringbone, pinstripes, and plaids. The fabrics used were leftover samples from a custom hat manufacturer. Separating each swatch is a vertical and horizontal border made of various silk grosgrain hatbands and machine stitched. |

This quilt was made by Mary Magdelena Rupp (1868-1962) for her brother J. George Rupp (1866-1947), who was a wholesale hat and cap salesman, and had a collection of grosgrain hatband samples. She lived in North Wales, Montgomery County. |
