Description |
A man's machine made vest comprised of black wool twill. The vest has a notched collar and a seven button closure. There is single slit chest pocket on the proper left side and two at the waistline. The back is made out of dark brown cotton twill with light brow glazed cotton used as the side panels. There is a brown cotton self-fabric belt with metal closure. The inside of the vest s lined in a light (not treated) brown cotton. Was worn with a matching frock coat and hat, see objects 1989.9.1 and 1989.1.3. |
Provenance |
Worn by Preacher Michael R. Moyer (1836-1912). He was ordained in 1883 into the Franconia Conference and served as minister until his death. The vest was passed down to his son, Allen C. Moyer (1867-1953), and then to his son, the donor. |
