Provenance |
Samuel K. Godshall (1808-1898) was a Mennonite bachelor schoolteacher and farmer of Franconia Township, Montgomery County. According to the donor, this piece was sold at Raymond Frankfenfield's auction in 1974. It was likely from the ancestry of his wife, Edna Derstine Frankenfield. It may have belonged to her grandfather, Mennonite bishop Josiah S. Clemmer (1827-1905), who grew up in Franconia Township during Godshall's teaching years. |
