Description |
Redwork Sampler Crib Quilt comprised of a 3 x 4 block formation of embroidered motifs. Each block averages 7.875" x 7.500" and consists of a plain white cotton ground with red cotton embroidery of predominately Sunbonnet Sue engaged in various activities on different days and time of year. Three blocks features her counterpart, Overall Bill/Andy and the top center block features a little girl motif with the name Esther embroidered below. There is a 1/4" wide foldover binding from back to front. The entire quilt has diamond cross-hatching and is handstitched with white thread and a SPI of 8-10. The back is comprised of plain white cotton. |

Made by Nora Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Rush) Yothers (1885-1975), wife of Isaac Erwin Yothers (1884-1959). They lived in Bedminster Township, Bucks County. The quilt was made for her newborn daughter, Esther R. Yothers (1915-1998). |
