Description |
Small drawing, probably a school reward, of a tulip plant growing out of an ink flourish. The date "Anno D: 1788" is written in skillful English calligraphy above the flourish. Two smaller flowers and a few buds grow out of each side of the stem, and the stem is full of green leaves with red highlights. The flowers are colored in red, green and yellow. A single line border surrounds. Written on reverse: "...his hand and pen...." It appears this piece was cut from something larger on which the text continued. |
Provenance |
Purchased by the donor on the household auction of Mrs. Florence Miller, in Perkasie, PA in May 1979, along with three other small rewards by the same artist (#2013.68.4-6). |
