Description |
A young man's handstitched vest made out of woven striped silk blend. The overall design of the silk blend is a wide taupe and brown angled stripe contrasted with a thinner red angled stripe. There is a short and thin shawl collar and a center front closure comprised of 8 buttons (one is missing). At the waistline there are two pockets. The back is lined in a bleached plain weave linen. At the back waistline there are two sets of self-fabric tape ties, averaging 10.00" long, that would be tied together to cinch the vest. This was the first example of closures used on a vest, indicating the age and earliness of this vest. |
