Description |
Nine-patch Quilt comprised of a 5 x 5 block formation. Each block averages 13.00" x 13.00" and consists of either a plain white cotton & handspun linen with circular quilt stitching, or a nine-patch block made of nine 4.25" x 4.25" (average) squares of either the same plain white cotton and linen or an additional nine-patch block made of nine 1.375" x 1.375" (average) squares of various printed cottons or handspun linen, which has also been diamond cross-hatching. The outer border is 10.50" wide and made of a peach (faded) cotton with repeated circular quilt stitching and a butted binding. All handstitched with white thread and a SPI of 6. In the lower left corner is the cross-stitched inscription "MAGDELENA YOST Her Quilt 1814" in brown silk. The back is made of either plain white cotton or bleached handspun linen. |
