Description |
Leather-covered oblong photo album filled with photos from Warren and Florence Swartley's travels, mostly in 1947. Includes a large group of photos from their trip to the Duchess, Alberta area in January 1947, and other parts of Alberta. Additional photos in the album are from the Swartley's further travels in the Canadian West, and U.S. western states, apparently that same year. The covers of the album are light-brown and are of a simulated alligator skin design. |

Warren H. and Florence Price Swartley's photo album, from their travels to western Canada in 1947. Includes a large group of photos from their trip to the Duchess, Alberta area in January 1947, where Warren lead singing classes at a Bible School at the Duchess Mennonite Church. They also visited other Mennonite churches and Bible Schools in the region, including at Tofield and Carstairs, Alberta. The Swartleys were accompanied on this trip by Phares & Kathryn Gross, of Souderton, PA (they appear in several photos). Additional photos in the album are from the Swartley's further travels in the Canadian West, and in U.S. western states, apparently that same year. The album was last owned by the Swartley's daughter, Arlene Swartley Gross (the donor). |
