Oblong "notenbuchlein" (manuscript hymn-tune book), date 1809, made for Elizabeth Landes, "Singing Scholar in the Richland School" [Bucks County]. Booklet is mostly filled with hand-written hymn-tunes and first lines. Inscription on bookplate reads: "Dieses Harmonische Melodeyen Buchlein Gehoret Mir Elisabeth Landes, Sing Schuler in der Richland Schule. Geschrieben den 18ten Januarius 1809." |

Manuscript hymn-tune booklet, dated January 18, 1809, compiled by an unidentified schoolmaster for one Elisabeth Landes, student in the Richland School, Bucks County. The identity of this Elizabeth Landes is unknown, and the later ownership of the book is unknown. It was eventually purchased by Henry L. Rosenberger at a local auction in March 1995; then placed on indefinite loan at the Mennonite Heritage Center, and eventually donated. |
