Everett Nyce & Friends. Variable Star Quilters, 16 Harbor Pl., Souderton, PA 18964." |
Provenance |
Wallhanging made by the Variable Star Quilters, based in Souderton, PA, in about 1990. The image was taken from an old photo showing J. Everett Nyce & friend holding a pet rooster on a farm near Vernfield, Montgomery County, circa 1912. The photo appears in Phil Ruth's, "Lower Salford, 1741-1991: A Pictorial Souvenir of the Towsnhips' 250th Anniversary" (p.60). The wallhanging was exhibited in several local quilt shows in the 1990s. The Variable Star Quilters made at least a couple of other wallhangings based on vintage photographs or historic scenes, according to group member Nancy Roan. |
