Description |
Appliquéd Tulip Quilt comprised of a 9 x 11 block formation. Each block averages 6.50" x 6.50" and consists of either the ground fabric made of plain white cotton, with diagonal or curved line quilt stitching, or an appliquéd tulip motif made out of a red cotton with a yellow tulip print and green cotton with a brown dash print. The surrounding border is 12.00" wide and made of the same ground fabric with swirled quilt stitching and a 1/8" wide foldover binding from front to back. The quilt has been handstitched in white thread with a SPI of 7. The back is comprised of plain white cotton. |

Made by Mary B. (Schantz) Longacre (1852-1931), wife of John W. Longacre (1848-1922). They lived in Richland Township, Bucks County and were members of the East Swamp Mennonite Church. The quilt was passed down to their granddaughter, the donor. |
