Provenance |
Flax spinning wheel, early 19th century, made (and signed) by Daniel Shelly (1780-1871), a turner and spinning wheel maker in Milford Township, Bucks County and a member of the West Swamp Mennonite congregation. The wheel apparently came from the ancestry and family of Florence L. Shelly Hixson (1879-1948), wife of Earl R. Hixson, of Quakertown, PA. - members of the Bethany Mennonite Church. It was passed down to their daughter Mildred Hixson Moll Arn, who later gave it to her niece Marjorie Bleam Geissinger (the donor), daughter of Ada Hixson Bleam. |
