Description |
Primitive folk-art water color painting of the Salford Mennonite Meetinghouse, built 1850. Entitled: "Salforth Mennoniten Versammlungshause. Ano Dominy 1850." Depicts the newly built Salford Meetinghouse of 1850, with part of a horse shed in the background and a small portion of the graveyard in the foreground. A custodian-sexton is shown digging a new grave and his wife bringing him a pitcher of water (this man is identified by the artist as Jacob Dehaven, though Dehaven had died prior to 1850). Painted and signed by antiquarian Isaac Clarence Kulp (1938-2007) of Vernfield, PA, January 2, 1991 ("Number 88") |
