Description |
Friendship Quilt comprised of a 5 x 6 block formation of the Rolling Stone pattern. Each block averages 11.50" x 11.50" and is made of a red cotton with a blue and black wave print, a yellow cotton with a black and white sunflower print and plain white cotton. Each block features four to six names handwritten in black ink. For the complete list of names and location please see the attached table. Separating each block is a 2.50" wide sashing made out of a black cotton with a blue coral and white dot print and cornerstones made out of the same printed yellow cotton. The surrounding border is 7/8" wide and is made out of the same printed black cotton. The outer border is 6.50" wide and also made of the printed black cotton with swirled quilt stitching and a 3/8" wide applied binding made out of plain blue cotton. The quilt is handstitched with white and blue thread with a SPI of 6-8. The back is comprised of navy cotton with a light blue leaf print. Transcription of names on quilt: Click Here |
Provenance |
This quilt was designed and pieced by Nancy F. Hasson Roan (1932- ), and quilted by members of the Variable Star Quilting group and volunteers of the Mennonite Heritage Center. Members and supporters of MHEP paid to have their name handwritten on the quilt. The quilt was a fundraising activity and was made in conjunction with a quilt exhibit. The quilt was auctioned at the Apple Butter Frolic, and then donated back to MHEP. |
