Description |
A ladies plain three piece cape dress and apron, all made out of the same grey wool twill. The three pieces have all been machine made. a) The cape has a high banded collar and a three snap front closure. The cape has a two front points and one point on the back. The back point of the cape has snaps which snap onto the back of the waistband of the apron. b) The apron is constructed to wrap around the entire lower half of the dress. There are box pleats at the attachment to the waistband. There is a hook and eye closure in the back, with snaps on the outside of the waistband for the cape to fix to. c) The dress has a rounded high neckline and a center front closure of eight buttons. There are additional hook and eyes at the waist on the proper left side. Along the waist seam there is box pleating. The sleeves are long and straight and set into the arm syce. There is also a pocket on the proper right side. |

There is no information about the maker or origin of this piece. The dress came out of a donation from Souderton Mennonite Homes retirement community, so the owner was probably a resident. |
