Manuscript hymn-tune booklet (Notenbuechlein) with fraktur-decorated title page, made for Samuel Meyer, "Singing Scholar in the New Britain School." The schoolmaster-fraktur artist was Jacob Gross. Contains the hand-written first lines of many hymn-tunes and texts, which were taught to the children in the German-language, Mennonite community schools. In poor condition -first couple pages torn, part of title page missing (chewed by rodent), some pages stained with old dirt. Cover mostly intact. |
