Description |
Oblong "notenbuchlein" (manuscript hymn-tune book), dated 1819, compiled by an unknown schoolmaster, with a fraktur bookplate for Jacob Kolb, "Singing Scholar in the Perkasie School", dated December 18, 1819. Has only six pages of numbered hymn texts and tunes. Many pages are blank. Has a printed paperboard cover. Inscription on bookplate reads: "Dieses Hermonsiches Melodeyen Buchlein gehoret mir Jacob Kolb, Sing schuler in der Birkenseher Schule. Geschrieben den 18ten December im Jahr unders Herrn A.D. 1819" |

Manuscript hymn-tune book, dated December 1819. compiled for Jacob Kolb, "Singing Scholar in the Perkasie [Hilltown] School." This Jacob Kolb has not been identified genealogically. Later ownership history of the booklet is mostly unknown. The book eventually ended up in the collection of the late Kirke Bryan, attorney and PA German decorative arts collector of Norristown, PA. Bryan consigned it to Alderfer's Auction Center, where it was sold in September 1990 and purchased by Henry L. Rosenberger, who then placed it on indefinite loan at the Menonite Heritage Center, and eventually donated it. |
