Description |
A ladies machine made dress comprised out of a black cotton with a white polka dot print. The dress has an attached self-fabric stand up collar with a center hook and eye front closure. There is a stitched yoke, with the fabric of the bodice being attached with cartridge pleating creating a gathered look the top. There is an inset self-fabric waistband with a hook and eye closure (although missing). The skirt is also attached with cartridge pleating along the seem. There is a pocket also on the proper right side. The sleeves are set into the arm syce and are long and tubular, but wide. The inside of the bodice is lined in a natural cotton muslin feed bag. The printed stamps are still present, and the feed bag on the proper left reads: [Ingre]dients ___ Barley, Meat & Bone Me____ Mill Run of Screenings, Whea[t], Calcium Carbonate, Salt & Dried Butter. MANUFACTURED BY the Park and Pollar[d]. BOSTON BUFFALO" [sic]. The feed bag used on the right side reads: "100 LBS. NET. MILT." with a rooster motif and two cartoon men. The left sleeve is lined in a light blue cotton and the hem of the skirt is also lined the natural cotton. |
